Beautiful Wedding Invitations on a tight budget.

Wedding costs are rising each year, so it’s no wonder that brides are looking for ways to cut corners on wedding planning expenses.  Most people say that the best way to save on your wedding costs is to cut the heads of your biggest spenders: your venue rental, your food, etc.  But what if changing those plans is not an option?  Although not as apparent, making cost saving decisions on your wedding invitations can just as effective.  Saving money on your wedding invitations doesn’t always have to mean sending out Xeroxed copies of a homemade invite.  Here are some great ideas on how you can save money on your wedding invitations without looking a cheap skate.

Save on the invitation process.
The number of guests has a direct impact on how many invites you’ll need to have.  Check your guest lists and make sure that everyone on the list (from what you know of the person) can potentially come. Some wedding couples feel it necessary to send invites to people they know won’t attend the ceremony, just so they can notify them of their event.  You can save more money by sending an announcement to these people.  Announcements are less expensive then formal wedding invitations and can relieve the guilt from your guests by not attending.

Although it may be customary to send a RSVP card with your invitation, you can save more of your budget by requesting that RSVPs be done via a phone call. Or you can send separate lighter postcard reply cards.  Either method can save you money on your postage expenses.

Add the Fancy-ness your self
A great tip to save money on wedding invitations is doing some of the invitation embellishments yourself.  There are some aspects of an invitation that make it stand above the rest in terms of quality and design but these little extras always come at a premium.  You save hundreds by purchasing these “special touches” and adding them to a less expensive invitation.  Some popular invitation add-ons are:
- Faux wax seals
- Vellum
- Pressed Flowers
- Smaller metal charms
- Chiffon Ribbon

For your Tech – Savvy Friends
It may be a huge deviation from the norm, but E-mailing your invites to guests can save if not eliminate your entire wedding invitation expense!  Take the following into consideration before deciding on this method.
- Do you’re guests check their e-mail regularly?
- Do you have all your guests’ current e-mail address
- Do all of your guests have internet access?
- Could your e-invite be seen as spam?

E-mailing your wedding invites is a big step away from the normal etiquette for wedding invitations.  There are a number of possibilities of your guests not receiving your e-invites so pick and choose who you use this method with.  To make all your guests happy you can send your more traditional friends and family a tangible invite but send your Tech-Savvy guests the electronic version.
