From time to time I like to answer questions from Yahoo Answers. Below is one of the questions I answered.

“I would like to have my wedding on Cocoa Beach in FL. Me and my fiancee only have a few close friends, we don’t speak to my family, and I don’t care for his family. Would it be weird to get an expensive dress and nice decorations if it will just be me him maid of honor best man? I would also like a photographer. I just don’t want it to seem weird without people there.”
Answer:
To answer your questions first, no, it would not be weird at all to have a nice, expensive dress and decorations for just a few people. This is a special day for the both of you and for that reason alone, anything you want to do for yourself and for your fiance on your wedding day is 100% justified.
It is not at all strange to have a photographer for the couple and two other people. Many people also take professional engagement photos and this is just for two people. When you decide on a photographer, you can mention the number of people that will actually be at your ceremony so that he is better equipped and does not bring too many or too little pieces of equipment. It is the photographer’s job to take photos for you and of what you would like, but it is not his job to judge the type of wedding you are having. It would also be good to meet with the photographer face to face so that you can give him expectations. You can also gauge the chemistry between the both of you and the photographer so that when he is taking photographs, you will not at all feel uncomfortable.
The best answer I can give you is to do things on your wedding day that will make you and your fiance the happiest. I’m sure your maid of honor and best man will also be happy to make that day special for the both of you.
If you did have a bigger wedding, it would be a different answer, where to some extent you have to please your guests since, they too, are a part of your wedding. But since this is a small and private wedding, do what makes both of you the happiest.
