choosing a wedding dateAs soon as you tell people that you’re engaged the first question out of everyone’s mouth after “Congratulations!”  is  “So, When’s the date?”
Choosing a wedding date is the first step to planning a wedding.  Having a hard date allows you to forge ahead with your other planning.  Being certain of a date is plays a crucial part in deciding on:

- How much time do you have to find a wedding dress?
- When will you need to make the reservation for the wedding venues?
- When will you require the services of all your vendors?

These and many other questions will remain unanswered until you’ve set a date.
So how exactly does a bride choose 1 of the 365 days of the year for her wedding date? Well, that’s a question only you can answer! But to help you out, here a few questions that should help you with your search.  Ask yourself the following:

1.) What season of the year do you prefer?
Do you plan on having a themed wedding that is dependent on a season? For example a “country Garden” theme would work best in the spring, and a “winter wonderland” theme would be more appropriate in the winter. Try to determine if certain aspects of a season will work best with the wedding you have in mind. Be sure to take inconsideration the average temperature, colors of nature, etc. of each season.

2.) Is there a time of year that your family or groom’s family finds particularly special?
Maybe it has been a tradition in your family to get married on the first day of summer.  Or maybe your fiance would love to be able to exchange nuptials on his or her mother’s birthday.

3.) How much time do you need to plan the wedding?
There are a lot of variables at play with this question.  Think about if you are hiring a professional planner or not.If you are hiring a professional wedding planner he or she may require a certain amount of time to plan your specific wedding. Likewise, think about who will be helping you plan your wedding if you decide to do it on your own.  If your mom and sister help you plan the ceremony are they ready to commit “X” amount of time out of each week?

4.) Does the availability of a ceremony and reception site coincide with your desired date?

5.) Are there any internal conflicts within your family that automatically restrict certain days? Some common conflicts include:

- another wedding
- a family vacation
- a graduation
- a pregnancy / birth
- military commitments
- family members sickness
If you have a large family work backwards when choosing a wedding date.  Use a calender to see what days ARE NOT available and decide from there.

6.) How many other couples will be getting married around the same time?
If you decide to get married on one of the most popular wedding months of the year, you’ll have more competition from everything from wedding favors to dresses.  Here of the 12 months and a percentage of how popular each are for wedding ceremonies:
January – 5%                  July – 10%
February – 6%                August – 11%
March – 6%                    September – 10%
April – 7%                      October – 9%
May – 9%                       November – 8%
June – 11%                     December – 8%
After answering these questions, choosing a wedding date should come much easier. With your wedding date set in stone, you’ll much closer to an effortless wedding planning experience.

There are many ways one can choose a wedding date. From the Chinese metaphysical prospective, a wedding date should be a day where the Qi is positive for marriage. My hubby and me got our wedding dates from http://www.goodweddingdate.com
