Destination Weddings 101

Destination WeddingsDestination weddings are a great way to have fun on your wedding day. Instead of being married in your home town, you and your loved one should consider going away to an exotic or new location. This is a great way to experience a new place, create some lasting memories, and to embark on the next chapter of your life in style.

When it comes time to choose a destination for your wedding, consider your guests as well as your personal preferences. A destination wedding is a great way to have an intimate gathering for your big day.  You want to make sure that you consider who you want at your wedding and how far they are able to travel both physically and financially.

The next big thing to consider is the cost of the event. Destination weddings can be much more expensive for guests because they may have to travel farther and book a hotel room for longer. Thus, you need to not only think about where the wedding will be but also the cost of travel. Destination weddings in big cities or popular places will have better travel options than somewhere more remote. Additionally, you need to consider the cost of hotels. Some hotels will give you a discount if you book a large group for the event, and this could help ensure that the people you love and hold dear to you can attend the event. So, do your research on hotels in the area, their costs, and their accommodations. Doing this will allow guests to know what they are getting into well in advance.

Make sure that if you are considering a destination wedding for your guests,  that you give them plenty of time to make appropriate plans. You want to give people enough time to take off of work and to save for the event. Having a last minute wedding is OK, but it is impractical and a bit rude if you are asking people to book plane tickets, reserve hotel rooms, and take off of work without advance notice.

Destination weddings are a great way to make your wedding experience extrememly personal. If you choose to have a beach wedding or any other exotic location, you’re gauraunteed to have a wedding unique from anyone else.  All it takes is some planning, research, and your loved ones and you’ll be well on your way!
